Gratitude: The Secret Weapon in Your Happiness Toolbox
Gratitude is simply being thankful or appreciative.
If you’ve heard about any of the research on happiness, there’s a very good chance that you’ve heard about using gratitude to increase your happiness. It’s a frequent topic in positive psychology and a secret weapon that most of us don’t use nearly enough.
To tick our happiness upward, we can use gratitude in a variety of ways. In future posts, I’ll be giving you specific ideas on how to integrate a gratitude practice into your life.
I’ll mention gratitude (and how to use it) often at Primrose Ponderings and that’s for three main reasons:
It’s simple to do gratitude exercises to get a “quick win.”
You can do some of the exercises just about any time and any where.
Over time doing the exercises literally reprograms your mind towards more positive (and happier) thoughts.
When I say that having gratitude is a secret weapon in your toolbox, I’m not exaggerating. While I’ll be offering you many ideas here at Primrose Ponderings, if the only idea you ever use is how to integrate more gratitude into your life, you will almost definitely become happier over time.
The trick with adding gratitude to your happiness toolbox is finding a method to practice that works for you. Not all of the ideas that I’ll present will work for you but at least one of them will. Keep trying until you find one that fits you and your life.
